SIC code → UK SME loan size estimator

Pick a UK SIC code and headcount → see typical first-year capital need for that sector. Pre-loaded with 2026 alt-lender benchmarks across working capital, equipment finance, and revenue-based products.

Methodology. Ranges are aggregated from 2026 UK alt-lender public rate cards and average-deal data shared by anonymised pilot lenders. Headcount adjusts the upper bound (more staff = more working capital needed). Sectors marked "MCA-heavy" indicate revenue-based finance is typical for that segment.

Why this matters for lenders

SIC code is the cheapest, fastest proxy for "what financing product fits this prospect". A new café (SIC 56102) and a new IT consultancy (SIC 62012) both incorporate today, but their first-year capital need is completely different — and the lender that gets to them with the right product hook converts at 3-5× the rate of a generic outreach.

This estimator gives you the working assumption for outbound — combined with our SIC lookup tool to pick the right code, you can pre-filter prospects before any sales conversation.
